Transitional Safeguarding Workshop 2025: A Briefing<\/a>.\u00a0 In February 2025, over 50 professionals from across adults and children’s safeguarding came together to discuss transitional safeguarding in Sunderland.\u00a0 This briefing was created following that to provide a reflection of the event, detailing key findings and actions taken forward.<\/p>\n

Self-Neglect Resources: 7-Minute Briefings and What to do about Self-Neglect Animation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Covid-19 and the associated restrictions have been seen to have an impact upon the increasing number and complexity of safeguarding concerns involving self-neglect, that are being reported in the North East.\u00a0 Reduced face-to-face contact with people (and access to their homes) as well as an increased reluctance for people to access support and services are thought to be contributory factors to this.\u00a0 Our concern for vulnerable adults remains at the forefront of our work.\u00a0 To this end, and in response\u00a0to requests from front line practitioners, the North East ADASS Safeguarding Network (of which SSAB is a member) have commissioned and published in 2022 a series of “7-minute guides” that highlight the key issues around aspects of Self-Neglect.\u00a0 These are available to download below, and are also printer-compatible:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

North East ADASS Organisational Abuse Good Practice Regional Toolkit<\/a>\u00a0 The aim of this\u00a0\u2018good practice guide\u2019 is to illustrate a set of principles and support for local authorities as the lead agency for dealing with concerns relating to organisational abuse for both commissioned and non-commissioned providers.\u00a0\u00a0It aims to set out a range of practice tips to inform and support a consistent and coordinated approach to addressing organisational abuse concerns and\/or significant quality concerns about a service provider, inclusive of communication and information sharing minimum standards and consideration to parallel processes.\u00a0 Other agencies are welcome to use this toolkit to think about organisational abuse issues and how to address them in partnership with the Local Authority.<\/p>\n
