Each agency or service is strongly recommended to produce its own Safeguarding Adults Individual Agency Guidance (IAG), which is clearly accessible to staff. The guidance must be compatible with the safeguarding adults procedures and reflect the philosophy and commitments contained in them.

Whilst each agency is responsible for the development of its own IAG, a template document is available, which provides information on tailoring the IAG to each individual agency. Agencies are strongly advised to use this template, however should agencies choose not to use this template, they are still required to develop a safeguarding policy document, which must be compatible with these procedures and compliant with the requirements of the Care Act (2014).

Individual Agency Guidance must be reviewed on a regular basis in line with any regulation, legislative changes, governance arrangements and any changes to Sunderland’s safeguarding procedures.
